Returning to Cameroon: preparing your return
A return takes several months of preparation. This page lists the questions to settle and points to the institutions that can answer them.
Questions to settle before leaving
- Your identity and civil status documents: which are up to date, and which are renewed through Cameroon's representation in your country of residence.
- Your luggage and personal effects: the rules are set by Cameroonian customs, which you should ask before shipping anything.
- Your diplomas: their recognition in Cameroon depends on the competent ministry, and equivalence is requested before you apply.
- Your health and social protection: what you leave behind in your country of residence and what you regain in Cameroon.
- Your tax position in the country you are leaving: ask its tax authority what applies to your departure.
- Your children's schooling, if you return as a family.

In your country of residence
Departure procedures are handled by the administrations of the country you are leaving: residence, taxation, recognition of diplomas. Each country page links to their sources.
What the programme does, and does not do
Diaspora Cameroun does not organise returns and does not issue any official document. It points to the institutions in charge, and it connects members registered on the platform.
