Investing in Cameroon: procedures and points to check

Before committing money, you need to know what operation you are carrying out, with whom, and which body supervises it. This page shows where to check.

Before committing money

  • Name the operation: land purchase, company creation, equity stake, project financing.
  • Check who you are dealing with and what they are entitled to sell or do.
  • Have any land title checked by the competent administration before any payment.
  • Ask for documents you can have verified. A photo or a message does not prove ownership.
  • Have the deeds read by a legal professional authorised in Cameroon.

Starting a company

Cameroon applies OHADA business law. Setting up a company goes through the official formalities, then registration in the commercial register.

Buying land or property

State property, the land registry and land affairs fall under a dedicated ministry. It is the place to check the status of a plot.

  • MINDCAF website(opens in a new tab)

Ministry of State Property, Surveys and Land Tenure (MINDCAF) (in French)

Website of the ministry in charge of state property, surveys and land affairs in Cameroon.

Taxation, exchange and customs

Taxes, exchange rules and customs formalities each have their own administration. Their pages are the starting point to learn what applies to your operation.

The programme does not manage your money. It reviews project files filed by verified sponsors and shows the status of each.
